Delete Your Account

We're sorry to see you go. If you'd like to delete your OurPlace account and all associated data, you have two options:

Option 1: Delete from the App

You can delete your account directly within the OurPlace app. Here's how:

  1. Open the OurPlace app and sign in to your account
  2. Tap the Settings tab at the bottom of the screen
  3. Scroll down to the Danger zone section
  4. Tap Delete this space to remove your space and all its photos
  5. Tap Sign out to sign out of your account

If you are the owner of a space, deleting it will permanently remove all photos, members, and settings associated with that space. If you are a member of someone else's space, you can leave the space before deleting your account.

Option 2: Request Deletion via Email

If you are unable to access the app or prefer to have us handle the deletion, you can request it by email:

  1. Send an email to support@ourplace.family
  2. Use the subject line: Account Deletion Request
  3. Include the email address associated with your OurPlace account

We will process your request within 7 business days and send you a confirmation once your account and data have been deleted.

What Data Is Deleted?

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed:

  • Your user profile (name, email, avatar)
  • All photos you uploaded to spaces you own
  • All spaces you own, including their members and settings
  • Your membership in other users' spaces
  • Push notification tokens and preferences

Photos you uploaded to spaces owned by other users may remain in those spaces after your account is deleted. If you'd like those removed as well, please mention this in your deletion request.

Delete Specific Data Without Deleting Your Account

If you'd like to remove some of your data while keeping your account, you have several options:

In the App

  • Delete individual photos — open any photo you uploaded, tap the menu, and select Delete
  • Edit your profile — go to Settings to change your display name or avatar
  • Leave a space — in the space's Settings, tap Leave space to remove your membership

Via Email

For any data you can't remove yourself, or if you'd like us to handle it for you, email support@ourplace.family with the subject line Data Deletion Request and let us know what you'd like removed. Examples include:

  • Specific photos you uploaded (to any space, including spaces owned by others)
  • Your comments or reactions
  • Your profile information (name, email, avatar)
  • Tagged appearances of you in other people's photos
  • Push notification tokens and preferences

We will process partial data deletion requests within 7 business days and confirm once complete. Your account will remain active with the remaining data intact.
